Immigration, old & New
Aicha: Old and new immigrants
America is known for being the melting pot or the nation of immigrants. Immigrants all over the world are the same. The stories of immigration is very important subject when it comes to the development of America because immigrants technically shape America to what it is today. Many immigrants migrate from their originally home and venture to have better opportunity. Many people see immigrants just as immigrants not knowing the history of immigration as a whole. There are some similar and differences that the old immigrant and new immigrant share, whether it is their belief, lifestyle and etc. My question now is does the idea of old immigrants and new immigrant still exist? In David D. Kallick article “Immigrants in New York City’s Economy”, Kallick explains how diversity plays a role on immigrants in the economy and the lifestyles of immigrants loving in America . Many of these immigrants that came to America came for the simple fact that America is the "Dream Land" not knowing the obstacles they will have to face just to live in America.
Old Immigrant
SIMILARITY OF BOTH OLD AND NEW IMMIGRANTS
Many immigrants both old and new came for a better opportunity. Many people tend to move away from their home land due to push factors. Push Factor is when something happening in your original country that to pushes you out of it. Another reason why people leave it due to something call pull factors. Pull Factor is what draw people towards a new place. For example, America being the Dream Land, Land of the free and etc.
Economic expansion is one of many keep factors why people leave their home town. This means that because of political dissention and social revolution in industrialized nations some people wanted to leave their native countries due to unemployment, repressive governments, or a lack of opportunity. You have other reasons such as trying to avoid escape religious persecution. These reasons cause both the new and old immigrant to attract the possibility of a better life in the United States. With America visions of wealth and the promise of freedom, equality, and opportunity that is all it has to take for someone to leave especially when are in situations like the above.

new immigrants
The Tensions between the old and new immigrants arose because the new immigrants face a great deal of discrimination. When the old immigrants arrived in America, there were those who were against them. However, the new immigrants faced quite a number of issues when they arrived in America, particularly from the old immigrants who feared that the new immigrants would ruin what is means to be a 'pure' American race, take their jobs, and overcrowd their cities. Think of it being how gentrification is today. There were the obvious, like the cultural clashes in terms of the languages spoken, the type of food eaten, and the customs and traditions that both groups followed. The new immigrants were discriminated against and had to work at unsecured jobs. This means that they had to work twice as hard to secure a decent income. These jobs include harsh labor and poor wages.
Over all Immigration is a difficult process. Both old and the new immigrants had to face quite a lot of issues when they first arrived in America, though the number and intensity for the old immigrants much lesser compare to the new immigrants, the truth of the matter is that these two groups had face challenges and difficulty to have what they thought was the American Dream. Without both the new and old immigrants America would not be the multicultural, diverse melting pot that it is today

Stories of the what it means to be an immigrant in aMERICA.
I always thought to myself , would theses Immigrants go back to their home town ? I interview several people . Yessica a immigrant from Dominican Republic states " I came to the US when i was 2, my parent came here to get a better life, i love my culture and will always maintain my culture "? I then ask if she would return back to her country , a place where she was born. She states" No , the resources that need are in the US. Maybe when am 80 i would go back".
I also interview another young name name Amy. Amy is a 1st generation of immigrant. She came here from the Ivory Coast when she was 13. After 35 years in the United State she concludes that she wanted to go back to what she consider home land. I ask her why ? She stated that she came here for a better life. She worked and built her dreams back home and their no point in staying in America anymore.
